On Tuesday, August 29, St. Mark's faculty and staff assembled in the Putnam Family Arts Center's Class of 1945 Hall to kick off the 2017-18 school year.
Veteran faculty member David Lubick was then honored for his twenty years of service to St. Mark's. In keeping with tradition, Mr. Lubick was presented with the traditional crystal bowl, as well as a framed and matted photo to hang alongside the portraits of other twenty-plus year faculty and staff along the main corridor. Including Dave Lubick there are currently nine faculty members who have been at St. Mark's twenty years or more.
Mr. Lubick—teacher of English, Associate Director of Admission and Director of Financial Aid, jazz saxophonist, and from 1996-2012 head coach of the School's successful basketball program—then took the podium and reflected on his St. Mark's experience. His insightful and humorous presentation was well-received.
Mr. Warren then shared his vision and his goals for the upcoming year, thanking everyone in advance for their concerted efforts on behalf of the students and the School.
After a series of meetings this week, students will begin arriving next week, beginning with student leaders and some varsity athletes, as well as new students scheduled for Wednesday arrival and returning students on Friday.
