Southborough Rotary Sponsors Veterans Presentation at SM

On Thursday evening, November 10, the Southborough Rotary Club sponsored a Veterans Day presentation in Taft Hall. Entitled "A Celebration of Service," the event featured six local veterans.

Faculty member and current English Department chair Jeniene Matthews was one of the presenters. She spoke about her decision to join the Air Force. Other speakers were local veterans Chris Robbins (Army), Steve Whynot (Navy) Dan Kolenda (Army JAG), Jeb Waters (Navy), and Mel Kizner (Army).

Over forty St. Markers attended the event. "It was a memorable evening," said Dean of Students David Vachris, "with stories of service and a great cause to support."

In addition, the Boys' Varsity Soccer Team wore special jerseys on Groton Day with the Veterans Inc. logo to commemorate Veterans Day. The team also sold shirts, raising money for Veterans Inc., to help veterans in need in Worcester. The organization is also committed to raising awareness of veterans' issues.
