Student Work
Every year on Prize Day, the English Department awards prizes for outstanding work in three categories: essay, poetry, and narrative. We invite students in every form to submit their work. A student may compete for one or more of the prizes.
English Department Prizes, 2005-2006
The Coleman Prize in English is awarded to that student, who, in the judgment of the English Department, has submitted the outstanding essay in the past academic year. In 2005–2006, the prize went to Laura Tsunoda.
The William Otis Smith Prize for English Verse was given in memory of a member of the Class of 1907 and is awarded to that student, who, in the judgment of the English Department has submitted the outstanding verse in the past academic year. In 2005–2006, the prize went to Torey Akers.
The Redmond Prize for English Narrative is awarded to the student, who, in the judgment of the English Department, has submitted the outstanding piece of narrative in the past academic year. In 2005–2006, the prize went to Sara Legasey.
