  • "Mothematics" Intrigues St. Mark's Audience; Dr. Andrew Mountcastle ’96 Featured Speaker for SM “Mathematicians at Work”

    As a post-doctoral Fellow in the Combes Lab at Harvard, St. Mark’s alumnus Dr. Andrew Mountcastle ’96 studies insect flight biomechanics and aerodynamics. Earlier this month he was the guest speaker for the 5th in a series of “Mathematics at Work” presentations sponsored by the Math Department. He demonstrated how he uses math in his research on insect flight , specifically moths, And he showed how biology, physics and math constantly intersect.
