    Alumni Hockey Players celebrate 30 years!

    On Sunday, February 28, nineteen St. Mark’s alumni spanning 5 decades descended on Southborough for the school’s 30th Annual Alumni Hockey Game. This year the annual event has been renamed in honor of Peabo Gardner ’66, one of the organizers of the inaugural 1980 game.

    Poet Taylor Mali Changes Opinions at SM

    Taylor Mali inspired the St. Mark’s community during his two days as the English Department’s visiting poet. He disabused students of the notion that poetry readings are dull or even remotely dreary. Mali, a professional spoken word artist, won the National Poetry Slam contest four times, appeared on “Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry” three times, and was a teacher for nine years. Mali is on a mission to create 1000 new teachers.

    Wick Festival Plays to Standing Room Only

    Student singers from across New England performed in front of a full house in the Class of '45 Hall this weekend, during the 18th annual Myron A. Wick, Jr. Choral Festival. The Wick Festival, as it is affectionately called, was established in 1992 through the generosity of the Wick family and friends, in memory of Myron Wick '33 and in honor of his life-long enjoyment of singing.

These athletes have not only had an outstanding athletic career at St. Mark’s and beyond, but are role models of sportsmanship, leadership and teamwork.

    Dr. Laura Appell-Warren, teacher of IIIrd Form Seminar and Anthropology at St. Mark’s School, has recently edited a monograph, entitled The Iban Diaries of Monica Freeman 1949-1951: Including Ethnographic Drawings, Sketches, Paintings, Photographs and Letters, published by the Borneo Research Council.
