Coach: Neil Cifuentes
Neil Cifuentes begins his 5th year as the head boys’ varsity soccer coach. He has worked at St. Mark’s since 2007 as a Spanish instructor and is also the assistant coach of the varsity boys lacrosse team.
After his collegiate soccer career at St. Lawrence University, Cifuentes went on to work as an assistant coach of the St. Lawrence mens’ varsity soccer team during a period that included three NCAA regional finals and a 22-0 National Championship run. Coach Cifuentes is a licensed coach trained in the Coerver Coaching Method as well as nationally licensed with the NSCAA. In addition to turning around the boy’s soccer team here at St. Mark’s, Coach Cifuentes has established a track record of successfully transitioning his athletes to competing at the collegiate level, with former St. Markers currently playing at Tufts, Claremont Mckenna, and St. Lawrence.
A gifted instructor, Neil spends his summers coaching at a variety of soccer clinics throughout the Northeast as well as leading groups of students on a yearly trip to Spain.
Coach Cifuentes is married to Lynette Sumpter, St. Mark's Dean of Academics and Director of the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. They both live on campus with 7 year old son Jake.
