Chris Payne begins his 3rd year as the head girls’ varsity soccer coach. Chris brings an impressive amount of playing and coaching experience to St. Mark’s.

Prior to coming to the States for University, Chris enjoyed a great deal of success as a player at the regional and national levels in England. Payne’s collegiate soccer career took him to Southern Connecticut University, where he led the Owls to three NCAA Championship games and two National Championship titles in 1990 and 1992. He went on to work as an assistant coach at Southern Connecticut State and helped coach the team to three NCAA championships in 1995, 1998, and 1999. Following his time at Connecticut State, Chris became the head men’s soccer coach at the University of New Haven. He has extensive experience coaching youth camps and clinics throughout the Northeast and Central regions and is a nationally licensed coach.

Chris is married to Kimberley Berndt, St. Mark's Science Department Head. They both live on campus with their four children, Carter, Jacob, Brenden, and Zoe.
