- True teaching and coaching go beyond specific disciplines and games. Both involve the ability to inspire student-athletes toward developing their own passions and pursuing them in a diligent and productive manner.
If athletics are your passion, you’ll be able to excel at St. Mark’s. Our 23 boys’ and girls’ interscholastic teams compete at the highest level in the Independent School League (ISL), a group known for its intense competition and dedication to the principles of sportsmanship.
Time spent on the playing fields gives students a respite from the rigors of academic life at St. Mark’s and an outlet for their exhuberant adolsescent energy. Coaches recognize, however, that athletics also provide a distinct learning opportunity, though in a different kind of classroom. Here, on the baseball diamond and in the hockey rink, students grow in developing discipline, cooperation, respect for opponents, and group responsibility.
Athletics at St. Mark’s are about excellence.
St. Mark’s graduates have gone on to play sports at the Olympic and professional levels, and you’ll also find alumni/ae among the ranks of collegiate athletes in the New England Small College Athletic Conference (NESCAC), the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC), the Ivy League, and the Big East.
