Lifelong Learning

A challenging liberal arts curriculum.

Advanced Placement (AP) Courses are offered in 23 subjects in eight departments. These college-level courses give highly motivated students the opportunity to study intensively and to earn college credit or advanced standing.

At St. Mark’s School, the approach to education is simple: we expect more. Our rigorous curriculum is based in the classical liberal arts and a belief that all students benefit from the challenges inherent in exposure to a broad range of subjects, from science and mathematics, to literature, history, foreign language, and culture.

Talk to students and faculty about the St. Mark’s experience, and you’ll hear phrases like “intense,” “academic excellence,” and “an insistence on doing things well.” Though St. Mark’s provides a thoroughly modern education, it’s a school that takes pride in its nearly 140-year tradition of producing well-rounded young men and women of character who are equipped to excel in college and beyond.

St. Mark’s provides a rigorous college-preparatory academic program.

Through small classes (averaging 10 students) and active seminar-style teaching, we insist that students set and meet high standards.
