St. Mark’s School seeks an experienced, collaborative, dynamic mental health professional to serve as the school’s Director of Counseling Services beginning July 2012.
The Director reports to the Dean of Students, and provides leadership to and has responsibility for management of the daily operation of the Counseling Department. Important aspects of the position include promoting and supporting the maintenance of mental health as well as the prevention of mental illness. The Director is responsible for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation, and referral activities for St. Mark’s students. She or he is responsible for direct and indirect care to students; the maintenance of health care records; communication with parents and outside providers; the management and supervision of staff caring for the students; policies and protocols relating to student mental health; and department operations.
Requirements include a Doctoral level degree in the mental health field and a minimum of five to ten years experience, or a Master's degree and ten years experience. A qualified candidate will have worked in a school setting and have some administrative experience. Familiarity with a residential setting is highly desirable.
