Team of the Week:
Varsity Field Hockey:
The Varsity field hockey team traveled to Concord last Saturday to face ISL powerhouse Middlesex in their first league game of the season. Having not beaten the Zebras in three years, St. Mark’s took the field prepared and focused for a game that will have major playoff implications come November. The Lions started the game firing out of the gates, as Sophia Millerick ‘14 scored the Lion’s first goal off a deflected free hit from Alexa Mackintire ‘14 just three minutes in. Middlesex controlled possession early on in the second half, but after a timeout, St. Mark's regained control of the game, as veteran Lindsay Hulley ’13 scored to give the Lions a 2-0 advantage. Mackintire provided insurance with a third goal for St. Mark’s with just under five minutes left. With the help of a strong defensive effort, captain Paige 'Effie' Duffy ‘13 recorded her second consecutive shutout, finishing the day with nine saves. The team is currently 3-0 this season.

Female Student-Athlete of the Week:
Kearan Burke ‘14: Kearan Burke ignited the St. Mark’s Varsity girls’ soccer team with two goals as the Lions defeated Middlesex 2-1 last Saturday. Burke scored her first goals of the season in the ISL victory. Both goals were scored over a span of nine minutes.
