Twelve St. Marker's are spending a month in Spain this summer, immersing themselves in the language and culture of the country. Ryan Haarstick ‘15, William D'Angelo ‘15, Greg Sachs ‘15, Jenna Levandowski ‘13, Charlotte Clayson ‘14, Meg Josephson, ’14, Ali Mills ‘14, Marisa Permatteo ‘15, Tori Shakespeare ‘15, Emily Brown ‘14, Erica Christensen ‘15 and Dianyu Wang ’14 are in Segovia, a historic city, one hour northwest of Madrid. They are living with host families, taking classes and going on daily excursions.

The students will be visiting Madrid and its museums, as well as taking a trip to the South of Spain to visit Sevilla, Granada, and Cordoba. The photo with this story was taken right before the group went with about 2000 Segovianos to watch Spain win its semifinal Euro match against Portugal.

"There is no better way to learn a language or about other cultures and it's people than by immersing oneself,” says Mr. Neil Cifuentes of the Modern Language Department, who accompanied the St. Markers to Spain. “This is so critical to our mission as a school and prepares our students to take on the challenges of this ever shrinking Global Community".
