A Special Evening - Annual Founder's Associates Dinner

Posted: October 3, 2012

On Friday, September 28, over 120 St. Mark’s alumni, parents, faculty, and friends attended the annual Founder’s Associates Dinner. This special event celebrates St. Mark’s most generous and committed annual supporters.(photo album)

Event guests arrived in the beautifully renovated main lobby and Admission Parlor and were escorted by student guides through the new Admission and College Counseling offices (formerly known as Red Hall), then finally were able to peek through a window to view construction taking place in the old Forbes. This current construction will become the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning. In addition, a new Forbes will be located below the Center, and an adjacent downstairs area between outer Forbes and the Lion’s Den will be converted into a day student area for Burnett House.

Cocktails were served in the Hinkle Room, and then guests entered the main dining hall, transformed with flowers, candles, and twinkling lights. Annual Fund Chair Bruce Morgan ’70 welcomed the group and thanked them for their key role in setting a new St. Mark’s Annual Fund record of $1.9 Million in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2012.

An elegant dinner was served followed by remarks from Head of School John Warren ’74, a presentation by Co-Chair of the Global Citizenship Initiative Dr. Laura Appell-Warren , the premier of the Global Citizenship video http://bit.ly/RcuVoU , and recounts of student travel experiences by Torie Shakespeare ’15 and Eric Danielsen ’14. The evening ended with Tom Berryman leading the Cat’s Meow and Octet a cappella groups along with the whole audience in the Thula Klizeo.

“I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Founder’s Associates,” commented Head of School John Warren. “Founder’s Associates provide substantial support that helps us to deliver on the promise of a St. Mark’s education each and every day. Every great school needs philanthropic partners and we are lucky to have so many who believe deeply in what we do here.”
