International Students

*New families, 2021-2022 School Year COVID-19 information and guidelines will be communicated over the summer.

F-1 Rules and Regulations

The current visa situation is changing rapidly. Since we will be inviting all of our new and returning international students to campus for in-class learning, we are following the protocol of ICE in conjunction with SEVP. Any new international student who has not had a visa interview and is waiting for their interview is allowed to participate in full remote learning at St. Mark’s.

Students with an active F-1 VISA will be encouraged to book their flights as soon as possible if they have not already done so. There are still many travel restrictions that may prevent students from getting to St. Mark’s in a timely manner. If a student is unable to arrive on campus on time, please be in touch with Anne Behnke at as soon as possible.

All students who are currently on an I-20 or waiting for your VISA interview will be reissued a revised I-20 beginning next week with the same SEVIS number. Please make sure you disregard your old I-20 and use your new I-20 to either enter the country upon return or for your initial interview. Your SEVIS number will not change. This is in compliance with the SEVP regulations.

We are actively monitoring all information and staying in close contact with our Homeland Security representative and will provide you with the most updated information as we get it.

Local-Based Guardian

Due to the concerns around COVID-19 and other potential safety issues, all students must have a viable local/U.S.-based guardian/emergency contact that is able to arrange for the student to be able to leave campus within 24 hours via private transportation in the event of student illness or temporary campus closure. This guardian/emergency contact expectation includes both international and domestic students who are farther than six hours driving distance from campus.

A viable local/U.S.-based guardian/contact should not include siblings or family friends who reside in college/university residential housing. We have secured the services of Gold Star, a student contact support emergency service, which may be helpful to some of our international student families.

Self-quarantine Requirements

All St. Mark’s students are asked to limit their contacts for 14 days before coming to School to prevent exposure to others with infectious disease. Students from Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, New York, and New Jersey can do so at home, as long as they take private transportation to school. Students who do not reside in these states are instructed to self-quarantine for 14 days in one of these states before arriving at St. Mark's.

All persons are instructed not to travel to Massachusetts if they are displaying symptoms of COVID-19. Once a student and his/her family (if they are accompanying them) have quarantined and can get to campus via private transportation (continuing to adhere to quarantine guidelines) there is no further quarantine required once they arrive on campus.
