2021-2022 St. Mark's Academic Year Preparations

As you prepare to make arrangements for the 2021-2022 St. Mark’s academic year, please take a moment to familiarize yourself with the following procedures for unvaccinated students who are planning to obtain the COVID-19 vaccination upon arrival at St. Mark’s School.

Fully vaccinated students may travel directly to St. Mark’s on their move-in day.

Students who are not planning to be vaccinated for medical or religious reasons should contact Health Services to arrange their exemption.

Returning international unvaccinated student leaders should arrive on Thursday, September 2, with a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival and go to the AC Hotel in Worcester, a Marriott hotel, which the School has designated as our pre-arrival quarantine location. St. Mark’s has booked a block of rooms at the hotel. Students will obtain a PCR test from our Health Services team on September 2 or September 3 and then obtain their first vaccine shot. Students will stay at the hotel until PCR test results arrive, and will move onto campus on Sunday, September 5, after 5:00 p.m.

Returning international unvaccinated students (non-student leaders) should arrive on Monday, September 6, with a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival and go the AC Hotel in Worcester. Students will obtain a PCR test from our Health Services team on September 6 or September 7 and then obtain their first vaccine shot. Students will stay at the hotel until PCR test results arrive, and will move onto campus on Thursday, September 9, after 5:00 p.m.

New international unvaccinated boarding students should arrive on Sunday, September 5 with a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of arrival, and go to the AC Hotel in Worcester. Students will obtain a PCR test from our Health Services team on September 5 or September 6 and then obtain their first vaccine shot. Students will stay at the hotel until PCR test results arrive, and will move onto campus Wednesday, September 8, for orientation.

St. Mark’s is happy to arrange transportation from Logan Airport to the AC Hotel and from the hotel to St. Mark’s. Please let us know if your child will be traveling alone so we can make sure we help them with their transportation arrangements. The School can accommodate students at the hotel if their flights dictate an arrival date before their designated check-in date above.

Any COVID-19 vaccines authorized for use in the U.S. or vaccines accepted by the World Health Organization are acceptable.

Local-Based Guardian

Due to the concerns around COVID-19 and other potential safety issues, all students must have a viable local/U.S.-based guardian/emergency contact that is able to arrange for the student to be able to leave campus within 24 hours via private transportation in the event of student illness or temporary campus closure. This guardian/emergency contact expectation includes both international and domestic students who are farther than six hours driving distance from campus.

A viable local/U.S.-based guardian/contact should not include siblings or family friends who reside in college/university residential housing. We have secured the services of Gold Star, a student contact support emergency service, which may be helpful to some of our international student families.
