Job Title: Evening Safety Officer

Summary Purpose and Function:
St. Mark’s School of Southborough is seeking an Evening Safety Officer. Duties include making periodic patrols throughout the buildings and grounds to ensure against fires, thefts, vandalism, broken water pipes, etc., answering and accurately documenting all incoming telephone calls, notifying supervisors and emergency personnel if necessary, and acting as liaison to the Southborough police and fire departments as needed. This position demands the ability to exercise independent judgment; solid work experience and training that demonstrates the knowledge and ability to perform the work is required.
Shift Hours:
3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. – Monday through Friday during the school year; occasional weekend work required.
Responsibilities:
- Patrol campus perimeters, and monitor activities on the school’s premises regularly to ensure the environment is safe and secure
- Respond to emergency situations and provide necessary assistance to students, faculty, and staff on campus
- Respond to alarms on campus, investigating and assessing the situation as needed
- Serve as point person with Southborough Fire Department in the event of a fire alarm
- Serve as point person with Southborough Police Department for all campus security concerns
- Assist students with lockouts including dorm rooms.
- Enforce St. Mark’s security policies, as well as any applicable federal, state, and local laws
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or G.E.D.
- 5-7 years of experience working as a security officer, or in a similar role
- First aid and CPR certified (EMT preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Must pass a criminal background screening and CORI check
- Must have a valid driver’s license
- Must have the ability to lift at least 50lbs
