St. Mark’s Welcomes Carrie Salvatore as Assistant Head of School for Strategic Enrollment

An experienced admission leader, Salvatore brings more than 30 years of helping students and families find school communities where they can thrive.
St. Mark’s School welcomed Carrie Salvatore as assistant head of school for strategic enrollment in July 2026. With more than three decades of experience in independent school admission and enrollment management, Salvatore brings extensive expertise and a commitment to building meaningful relationships with prospective students and families.
Salvatore’s career includes work at Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School in New York City and King School in Stamford, Connecticut. At Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School, she served as director of admission and enrollment management. At King, she served as director of admission and financial aid, helping families navigate school decisions and introducing them to the opportunities an independent school education can offer.
Her experience also reflects an appreciation for the importance of student voices in the admission process. At King, Salvatore highlighted the contributions of student tour guides, panelists, and performers in helping visiting families understand the school’s programs and community firsthand. That perspective aligns closely with St. Mark’s emphasis on knowing and valuing each student.
In announcing her arrival at St. Mark’s, Salvatore emphasized her belief in “the transformative power of exceptional schools and the importance of building authentic relationships with families.” Her approach centers on helping students find communities where they can grow academically and personally, while developing strong partnerships with the adults supporting their school search.
Salvatore succeeds Anne Behnke, who transitioned to senior advisor to the head of school in July. As a member of St. Mark’s senior leadership team, Salvatore leads the School’s admission and enrollment efforts, bringing an experienced perspective to welcoming the next generation of St. Markers.
