It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news that Dean of Students and Assistant Head of School Liz Agosto passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 31.
A member of the St. Mark’s community since 2023, Ms. Agosto quickly became a beacon of strength and support for students, faculty, and staff. Liz took a holistic approach to educating young people, with an emphasis on wellness. She had extensive leadership experience working with students. Before coming to St. Mark’s, Liz served as dean of students and chief student affairs officer at Amherst College and in a number of student affairs roles at her alma mater, Dartmouth College.
During her time at St. Mark’s, Liz was known for her kindness, humor, empathy, and enthusiasm. She excelled at designing structured programming to support the development of students and guiding teams toward a common purpose. Liz was also exceptionally adept at one-on-one conversations, possessing remarkable listening skills and ending every interaction with care. Liz took her role as a school leader very seriously, believing passionately in the power of residential education, and she always found time to laugh, smile, and make others smile. She made a significant impact during her time at St. Mark’s, and we are profoundly grateful for her contributions to our community.
