On Sunday, April 27, five St. Mark’s girls attended the Girls STEM Summit-Statewide, an event sponsored by Jr. Tech, at Regis College. Attendees heard from keynote speaker Dr. Erica Buonomo, a principal scientist at Tscan Therapeutics, and attended five workshops on different STEM careers including neuroscience, physical therapy, medical technology, biotechnology, and website design and development.
The St. Mark’s Science and Mathematics departments have sponsored a trip to this summit for several years. This years' attendees were Eliana Bravo ’28, Zoey Lee ’27, Ingrid Namala ’27, Bella Sumner ’28, and Eva Wilmot ’28.
"The time we spent there was so purposeful," Bella Sumner said of the summit. "I learned so much about job opportunities in STEM and I walked away with so much new knowledge. I am really interested in neurology now and I even got to see a real human brain! It was an amazing experience and I am so happy I went."
