Take Pride, Give Back

Take Pride, Give Back
Jackie Waters

St. Mark’s annual Giving Day, held this year on April 9, proved to be a great success as members of our community encouraged each other to show their support for the School and give back to the Pride.

As the inaugural event for the new student advancement ambassador program, Giving Day saw more energy and enthusiasm from current St. Markers, who gave in far greater numbers compared with last year. Faculty and staff giving more than doubled this year, as did gifts of $1,500 or more made at the leadership levels.

By the numbers, 579 total donors (a 13 percent increase from 2023-2024) contributed a total of $337,530.36. That is a 54 percent increase from funds raised on last year’s Giving Day and accounts for one eighth of the total Annual Fund income for fiscal year 2024. The average gift amount also increased by 38 percent over the previous year, as alumni and parents joined students, faculty, and staff in supporting St. Mark’s.

New this year, members of our School community enjoyed the unique and memorable opportunity to “Yak with Vac” and share their thoughts with Senior Leadership Gifts Officer David Vachris on what they love about St. Mark’s and what inspires them to take pride and give back.

“I take pride in how well our faculty and students get to know each other,” shared Associate Dean of Students Maggie Caron.

“St. Mark’s is dedicated to students and innovative education, and I’m proud of that,” said Trustee and President of the Alumni Executive Committee Elaine Harvey ’06.
