Annual Empty Bowls Event Supports Local Soup Kitchen

On the afternoon of Saturday, May 19, during Reunion Weekend, veteran SM art teacher Aggie Belt and several of her students hosted the annual Empty Bowls sale to help the hungry.

More than one hundred bowls, pots, cups, and plates created in the St. Mark's ceramics facility over the course of the past year were on sale. For their generosity, purchasers could receive not only a colorfully crafted piece of pottery, but it could be filled upon request with delicious Uhlman's ice cream.

Students, faculty, and faculty children helped to make and donate bowls for the occasion. This event each year raises funds to fight hunger around the world, beginning with local communities. This year, $1026 was raised, and the proceeds will once again go to Our Father's Table, a local soup kitchen in neighboring Marlborough.
