Two St. Markers, Edna Kilusu '19 and Frances Hornbostel '21, have been selling Rafiki bracelets during lunch, to support communities in Africa.
Rafiki ("Friend" in Swahili) bracelets are handcrafted in Tanzania and Kenya. Funds raised through this effort will go to improving access to water, food, health resources, and opportunities in those countries.
Kilusu, a V Form boarding student, is from Arusha inTanzania. Hornbostel, a III Form boarder from New York City, spent this past summer working in Tanzania, primarily with the Orboma community near Arusha. There, as part of a team of nineteen students, she helped build a classroom.
Through their efforts, both Edna and Frances exemplify the St. Mark's mission to lead "lives of leadership and service," and the School's commitment to Global Citizenship.
