Ten from Bhutan's Desi High School Visit St. Mark's

This April, St. Mark's welcomed ten visitors from Bhutan. Seven students, two teachers, and the CEO of the Desi High School in Thimphu, Bhutan arrived on the Southborough campus and immersed themselves in the life of the School.

The Bhutanese guests lived in dormitories; attended classes and chapel; toured Boston and explored the area. Last spring, St. Markers visited Desi High School as part of the inaugural Lion Term Lion's Roam adventure, "Life at 13,000 Feet."

Dr. Laura Appell-Warren, Director of Global Citizenship at St. Mark's, says that "The exchange with the Desi High School in Thimphu Bhutan has been the result of five years of hard work on the part of the Global Citizenship Office Team, as well as by our colleague Ratu Drukpa in Bhutan. Last year our students traveled to Bhutan and visited the school and learned about dance and life as Bhutanese students. Now we have the privilege of hosting the CEO of the Desi High School, two teachers, and seven students at St. Mark's. This program is a great example of the ways in which we can all expand our understanding of people, places and cultures from around the world!"
