On Saturday, March 4, the St. Mark's Gay-Straight Alliance hosted its 2nd Annual Interscholastic Rainbow Dance. More than 40 people, including several guests from other schools, enjoyed the evening.
According to Julia Munn '18, co-head of the GSA at St. Mark's and one of the organizers of the event, the Rainbow Dance was a fundraiser for the Trevor Project. Founded in 1998 by the creators of the Academy Award-winning short film TREVOR, The Trevor Project is the leading national organization providing crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning (LGBTQ) young people ages 13-24.
The St. Mark's GSA began the year by hosting an open discussion about LGBTQ issues which was very well-attended. The group meets regularly, and hopes to host another such open discussion in the spring.
