Student-Directed One Act Plays This Week!
Student-Directed One Act Plays This Week!

On Wednesday evening, May 16, and Friday evening, May 18, the St. Mark's Theater Arts Department will present three student-directed one act plays in the Putnam Family Arts Center's Black Box Theater. One of the plays was also written by a St. Marker: Kaela Dunne '18.

Dunne, a VI Former from Southborough, directed her own play, Love at First Bite, which featured a cast that included Haley Dion '19, Peter Ackerman '18, Kate Normandin '19, Steven Burke '18, and Angela Li '19. It is a deft comedy of personal relationships and compatibility, set in a restaurant on Valentine's Day.

Sixth Formers Drew D'Orsi and Caroline McGinnis co-directed "The Long Island Iced Tea," the third play in author Nick Zagone's Mint Juleps Trilogy. The cast included Jamie Lance '18, Ben Robb '18, Noah Robb '20, Mary Hoffman '18, Jon Shakespeare '18, and Mo Liu '18. The story is a sort of comedic character study which takes place inside of an automobile parked outside of a party.

Playwright Philip Slater's April Showers is a creatively anthropomorphic tale which takes place inside of a dishwasher. Ably directed by Angela Li '19, it stars Cooper Schmitz '18, Niki Klodowska '18, Tyreese James '18, Anu Akibu '20, Alex Chen '21, and Kevin Takayama '21.

All three productions are delightful and well worth seeing. Both Wednesday and Friday performances begin at 7:00 p.m. and seating is on a first-come basis.
