Classics Banquet Celebrates 2018 in Latin and Greek

Despite the stormy weather nearly 40 St. Markers attended this year's Classics Banquet hosted by the Classics Club.

Students enjoyed a delicious meal of Greek food catered by Simply Greek in Westborough. There was plenty of entertainment. Classical Diploma students who traveled to Greece in March gave a slide show of their favorite photos and experiences. Greek II presented a preview of their Classical Diploma Project, Τα Δεινοτερα, an adaptation of the Hymn to Demeter in the style of the popular TV show Stranger Things. Finally, Latin I performed Alicia in Terra Mirabili (Alice in Wonderland in Latin – see photo).

The evening concluded with the presentation of awards. The following prizes were awarded:

National Latin Award - Luke Lee '20 was presented with a summa cum laude award, a gold medal and a special commendation for making a perfect score on the exam.

Cicero Prize 2018 (for the best recitation from Cicero's First Catilinarian Oration) - Zoe Maddox '19
