This year's Fall Play at St. Mark's is "She Kills Monsters," a self-proclaimed "dramatic comedy" written by Vietnamese-American playwright and martial arts director Qui Nguyen. Performances will take place on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday evenings—November 14-16—in the Putnam Family Arts Center's Black Box Theater.
The current St. Mark's production is directed by SM Theater Arts teacher Chris Kent and features a cast which includes Kian Sahani '20, Sydni Williams '22, Angela Li '19, Reily Scott '21, Will Lu '20, Anu Akibu '20, Bethany Batista '21, Illia Rebechar '20, Logan Matthews '22, Luke Lee '20, June Seong '19, Alexandra Chen '21, Rebecca Wu '22, and Reevie Fenstermacher '19.
Stage managers are Sierra Petties '20 and Felicity Keyzer-Pollard '22. Holden LeBlanc '22 is the sound operator. Aidan White '19 is responsible for the art design. The backstage crew includes Daniella Pozo '20, Ewan Leslie '22, Reina Wang '22, and Suha Choi '22.
The show is beautifully executed. Truly the "dramatic comedy" it claims to be, there are moments of both delightful humor and intense pathos. The cast is uniformly excellent and the production is first-rate. It tells a very different kind of story with a unique narrative style, and it is well worth seeing.
Seating is limited, so please contact Mr. Kent – firstname.lastname@example.org – if you'd like to come on Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday evenings, so you don't miss out. Performances start at 7:30 p.m.
