Strategic Plan

St. Mark's School Students Cheering on Campus is Southboro, MA

Shaping the Future - Together

At St. Mark’s, we believe in the power of reflection, vision, and bold action. That’s why we’ve embarked on a community-wide Strategic Planning process — a chance to honor what makes our school distinctive while charting the course for the years ahead.

This process belongs to all of us. Students, faculty, staff, alumni, families, friends and trustees are helping to shape a shared vision that will guide St. Mark’s for the next decade and beyond.

Why Plan?

Every great institution takes time to look forward. For St. Mark’s, this is a moment to pause and ask:

  • Who are we?
  • What do we aspire to become?
  • How will we get there?

Strategic planning is not about creating a document that sits on a shelf. It’s about clarifying our vision, setting priorities, and committing to action — all grounded in the values that define St. Mark’s.

Strategic Planning Updates

How the Plan is Taking Shape

Our process is thoughtful, transparent, and collaborative. With leadership from the Head of School, Board of Trustees, and a Strategic Planning Steering Committee, we are moving through four key phases:

This process ensures that the voices of our community are heard, and that the resulting plan reflects both who we are and who we aim to become.

Grounded in Our Mission

At St. Mark’s, our mission—to educate young people for lives of leadership and service—guides every step of our Strategic Planning process. We strive to prepare students for more than success in the classroom, nurturing their intellect, character, and a spirit of cooperation over self-interest so they are ready to make a difference in the world.

A Plan Built By Many

We know that the best plans come from collective wisdom. Our goal is for hundreds of St. Markers — students, teachers, parents, alumni, and friends — to share their ideas, hopes, and unique perspectives.

“Strategic planning is about shaping the future of St. Mark’s and the lives of the students who will carry its values into the world. This moment matters, and I am excited for us to take it on together.” — Dr. Ivory Hills, Head of School
