Casey Bates '09 returned to St. Mark's in 2015 as the Assistant Athletic Director and head coach of the Girls' Varsity Hockey Team. Prior to returning to St. Mark's, she coached soccer, hockey, and softball at Milton Academy. Coach Bates also played professional hockey for the Boston Blades of the CWHL and the Boston Pride of the NWHL, winning the Clarkson Cup in 2015 and the first ever Isobel Cup in 2016.

Coach Bates received her B.A. and M.A.T. from Northeastern University. As an undergrad, Bates was a four-year member and two-year captain of the Northeastern University Women's Hockey Team. In her time at Northeastern, Coach Bates helped her team capture one Regular Season Hockey East Championship (2012) and two Beanpot Championships (2012 & 2013). Coach Bates was also a two-time WHEA 2nd Team All-Star (2012 & 2013) and a four-time WHEA All-Academic Team member.

In addition to her athletic duties, Ms. Bates teaches English, serves as the head coach of both the Varsity Hockey and Varsity Softball teams, assists with the sub-varsity field hockey program, and is a member of the Gaccon House team. She lives in the main building with her husband, Mark, and their dog, Lady.

A SM alum, Class of 2011, Ms. Finnerty is a graduate of Bowdoin College where she majored in psychology and french. While at Bowdoin, Ms. Finnerty was a field hockey and ice hockey captain. She is joining us from Holderness School in Plymouth, NH where she teaches French and coaches field hockey and ice hockey. At SM, Ms. Finnerty will teach French and Psychology, and coach field hockey, ice hockey, and softball. Ms. Finnerty will be living in the Main Building.
