Kate Erickson joined the St. Mark's Community in 2022 as a member of the History Department. Erickson learned to row somewhat later in life as a PhD student at Oxford University, where she joined her college's intramural team in exchange for the promise of a free hamburger on the tryout day. She went on to row as a walk-on for the Oxford University Women's Boat Club for three varsity seasons, where she raced in the prestigious Oxford Cambridge Boat Race and served as club president in her final year. Kate is also an accomplished sculler, having reached the grand final in the single scull at the British University Championships and other major European regattas. She has previously coached at Craftsbury Outdoor Center, Owen J. Roberts High School, and The Hill School, where she led the novice program to the school’s first ever conference championship title in that division. Outside of crew, Kate was also a four-year member of the Stanford Equestrian Team, earning Academic All-American honors and becoming the first ever Stanford athlete to compete at the highest level in dressage at the national collegiate finals, and a varsity-letter earning member of the Oxford University Rifle Club.
