Head Coach
Coach Karen Bryant has been coaching girls cross country since the fall of 1996 and has been the head coach since 2002. Her goals for each year is to have each girl improve individually and as a member of the team, and for each girl to recognize that running is a lifelong sport. The workouts are tailored to where each runner is in her training and experience. Cross country is a sport that allows each runner to see how the effort they put in pays off in results in races. A runner has the chance to watch her own skills develop while always playing a role in the team’s success. Several students have gone on to run in college and truly embraced running as a lifelong sport by competing in races and marathons after leaving St. Mark’s.

Assistant CoachOlivia currently teaches English and serves as the faculty advisor to the St. Marker. Before St. Mark's, Olivia taught at Kingsley Montessori School in Boston. She also taught English for several years in Brooklyn, New York. Olivia has taught in many settings, from Lashio, Myanmar, where she partnered with local educators to implement child-centered practices at monasteries and nunneries, to Utica, New York, where she helped prepare adult learners for the GED. Before teaching, Olivia worked in various editorial roles at literary magazines, publishing houses, and literary agents.Olivia holds a BA in Government and Creative Writing from Hamilton College and is pursuing her MA in English from Middlebury College.
