Colleen Finnerty, St. Mark's Class of 2011, returned to teach and coach at St. Mark's in the fall of 2017 after two years at Holderness School in Plymouth, New Hampshire. Prior to her work at Holderness, Finnerty was a student-athlete at Bowdoin College where she played field hockey and ice hockey, captaining both teams in her senior year. With four trips to the NCAA tournament, emerging once as the National Champion and once as the National Runner-Up, her field hockey career certainly did not lack excitement. During her senior campaign, she earned a number of accolades including NESCAC and All-American honors. She was also a four-year selectee of Fall and Winter NESCAC All-Academic honors. Her contributions to Bowdoin athletics earned her the Sidney J. Watson Award, an award that recognizes a student-athlete who has honored the DIII philosophy through accomplished participation in more than one sport during their time at Bowdoin.

Jessica is in her first year at St. Mark’s. Prior to joining the staff, she was at Connecticut College as an assistant coach for the 2020-2021 seasons. There, her primary focus was on coaching defensive tactics and strategies. She also conducted game strategy, film breakdown, practice plans, and recruiting. While on staff at Stonehill in 2019, she served as a volunteer assistant coach. Walsh has coached at the club level as well as the USA Field Hockey Futures Program Level I Coach for Region 3.

As a collegiate student-athlete, Walsh lettered as a defender at UMass Lowell between 2012 and 2016 when the program was transitioning to Division I status. She was a regular starter in her career and finished her tenure with six defensive saves, eight points on three goals, and also had two assists. Walsh also captained the River Hawks during her senior campaign.

A native of North Easton, Massachusetts, Walsh was a standout field hockey player at Oliver Ames High School. She also lettered in lacrosse, was among the top shot putters in the state, and she competed in horseback riding. The versatile athlete earned her bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts, with concentrations in Psychology and Political Science, from UMass Lowell in 2019.
