Kerstin Matthews arrives at St. Mark’s with over 20 years of women’s college coaching experience. Prior to St. Mark’s, she was the Associate Head Coach at Boston University for the past 2 seasons. Matthews spent 13 years as the Head Coach at Saint Anselm College compiling an impressive winning record of 237-74-22 and winning percentage of .745. She won Coach of the Year honors three times across play in the ECAC East, the New England Hockey Conference, and the New England Women's Hockey Alliance. Matthews has developed several players who have won Rookie of the Year, Player of the Year, and/or been named All Americans in her tenure. She also guided the Saint Anselm program during the NEWHA’s transition to the NCAA National Collegiate play. Before St. Anselm’s, Matthews started her college coaching career at Boston University, first serving as their Club Coach for 2 years and then as the First Assistant for 4 years at the inception of BU’s Division I program.

Matthews is a graduate of Lawrence Academy and Providence College, captaining the women’s hockey team at both schools her senior years. Along with coaching hockey, she will also be an Assistant Director of Admissions. Kerstin will live off campus with her husband Jeff and two boys, Jacob and Cameron. In her spare time, Kerstin enjoys coaching her boys in hockey.

Casey Bates '09 returned to St. Mark's in 2015. Prior to returning to St. Mark's, she coached soccer, hockey, and softball at Milton Academy. Coach Bates also played professional hockey for the Boston Blades of the CWHL and the Boston Pride of the NWHL, winning the Clarkson Cup in 2015 and the first-ever Isobel Cup in 2016.

Coach Bates received her B.A. and M.A.T. from Northeastern University. As an undergrad, Bates was a four-year member and two-year captain of the Northeastern University Women's Hockey Team. In her time at Northeastern, Coach Bates helped her team capture one Regular Season Hockey East Championship (2012) and two Beanpot Championships (2012 & 2013). Coach Bates was also a two-time WHEA 2nd Team All-Star (2012 & 2013) and a four-time WHEA All-Academic Team member.

Ms. Bates works in the Academic Office, teaches English, and serves as the head coach of the varsity softball team. She lives on campus with her husband, Mark, daughter, and their dog, Lady.

A St. Mark's alum, Class of 2011, Colleen Finnerty is a graduate of Bowdoin College where she majored in psychology and french. While at Bowdoin, Colleen was a field hockey and ice hockey captain. She joined us from Holderness School in Plymouth, NH where she taught French and coaches field hockey and ice hockey. At St. Mark's, Colleen teaches Psychology and The Global Seminar, and coach field hockey, ice hockey, and softball. Colleen lives on campus.
