Coaching Staff

Head CoachDejai Barnes joined both the History and English Departments here at St. Mark’s in 2019. He earned his PhD in History of Christianity from Columbia, where he taught Literature of the Humanities to first year college students for several years. Prior to that, he earned his MA in History and Philosophy of Religion from Concordia University in Montreal, QC. Dejai coaches soccer and lives on campus with his family and dog.

Assistant Coach
Andrew Bergdahl became part of the St. Mark’s Math Department in the Fall of 2020 after serving as the Mathematics Department Chair of the Stoneleigh-Burnham School as well as as a summer instructor and dorm head at Phillips Academy Andover. He earned his B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Minnesota and an M.S. in Mathematics from Nicholls State University. In addition to his mathematical background, Andrew's work on linguistics instruction has been published in a book titled, "Teaching Language Variation in the Classroom."
He coaches thirds soccer at St. Mark's and has also coached mathletes, volleyball, fencing, squash, ultimate frisbee, and outdoor club. Andrew lives on campus with his wife, Anastasia, and 5 children, Audrey, Brigid, Thomas, Tobias, and Agatha.
