Adrian Diaz joined St. Mark's in 2026. Coach Diaz brings a wealth of playing and coaching experience to our program. A standout player at Vermont Academy, he went on to a decorated collegiate career at Saint Michael's College, where he served as team captain in his final two seasons. He then took his game to Spain, playing professionally with SD Ordenes before returning to Saint Michael's as an assistant coach, helping the program earn a NE-10 postseason appearance in 2021.

In 2022, Coach Diaz took over the Vermont Academy boys' soccer program, quickly establishing himself as one of the premier coaches in prep school soccer. His record speaks for itself, including three Lakes Region League Championships; back-to-back NEPSAC Class C titles, including an undefeated season in 2023; and national rankings of #5 and #7 among all prep schools (2024-2025). His players have gone on to compete at programs across the country, and he has coached two NEPSAC Players of the Year, two All-American Honorable Mentions, and one MLS Draft selection.

Coach Diaz's approach centers on the holistic development of the student-athlete, believing that success on the field is a direct reflection of the habits, discipline, and accountability developed off the field. His style of play reflects his Spanish background, emphasizing technical quality, intelligent possession, and sharp decision-making. Above all, Coach Diaz is committed to building a culture where high standards are shared and contagious.

Neil Cifuentes joined St. Mark’s in 2007 and serves as the Director of Global Citizenship at St. Mark’s. After his collegiate soccer career at St. Lawrence University, Cifuentes went on to work as an assistant coach of the St. Lawrence men's soccer team during a period that included three NCAA regional finals and a 22-0 National Championship run. Coach Cifuentes is a licensed coach trained in the Coerver Coaching Method as well as nationally licensed with the USC.

Cifuentes was the Head Coach of the Boys’ Varsity soccer team at St. Mark’s between 2008 and 2018 and qualified as NEPSAC Quarter-Finalists in 2013, 2015, 2016, and 2017, and was consistently a Top 1/3 finisher in the Independent School League. Coach Cifuentes established a track record of successfully transitioning his athletes to competing at the collegiate level, with former St. Marker’s playing at Trinity College, Tufts, Claremont McKenna, St. Lawrence, Bowdoin, Clarkson, Colgate, Macalester, The University of Rochester, Washington University, University of Pennsylvania and Denison College. He is very excited to be back with the program and support Coach Diaz in re-establishing the long and proud culture of Boys Soccer at St. Mark’s. In October of 2013, Coach Cifuentes was inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame at St. Lawrence University. Coach Cifuentes was on the coaching staff of the 1999 Men's Soccer team at St. Lawrence, which was the first men's team in NCAA Division III history to run the table en route to the NCAA Championship. Additionally, Coach Cifuentes was named the 2015 Massachusetts Coach of the Year by the USC.
