Coaching Staff

Head CoachChristopher Welch has been coaching at St. Mark's since 2020, bringing a wealth of experience from both his competitive days and coaching career that has taken him from New Jersey to West Virginia to Massachusetts, spanning the youth to the collegiate level. Engaging with multiple Central MA high school programs and clubs over the years, he is devoted to fostering a positive team culture with a philosophy that centers on prioritizing skill development, discipline, and sportsmanship to cultivate well-rounded athletes. Coach Welch actively advocates for wrestling's character-shaping capacity, recognizing its profound impact on young individuals. Beyond his coaching duties, Coach Welch enjoys and places great importance on moments spent with his daughters Megan and Alex, son T.J., and their dog, Brody.

Marco is a passionate and accomplished STEM educator with a diverse background in various scientific fields. Marco has taught at both the university and high school levels as well as worked for the Fish and Wildlife Service as a Fisheries Biologist. where he conducted research and implemented conservation measures to protect various aquatic species and their habitat.
Previously, Marco taught science, coached soccer, and advised the Black Student Union at the South Shore Charter Public School in Norwell, MA. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family, playing soccer, hiking, and reader. He lives on campus with his family.
