Lives of Consequence: The Campaign for St. Mark’s School

Lives of Consequence is a comprehensive $115 million fundraising initiative that will empower St. Mark’s School to deliver an education focused on the intellectual, character, and leadership development of our students—enabling them to grow into citizens who not only do well, but who also assume a lifelong commitment to do good.

Our Progress

Lions on the Move

Thanks to generous support from our community during the campaign’s early phase, we have raised more than half of our total goal and completed several significant capital projects. These include the creation of The Center for Innovation in Teaching and Learning, which provides opportunities for faculty research and development, academic support for students, and student enrichment activities; the construction of our new STEM Center, which serves as the cornerstone of our best-in-class STEM program that instills in our students the literacy, knowledge, and skills needed for lives of leadership and service; the creation of a space on campus for Burnett House, as well as renovations to other facilities to create a community of learning for our faculty and students; enhancements to our athletic facilities, including Sargent Family Field, Elkins Field House, Armour Cage, the T. Jefferson Coolidge Jr. ’50 Athletic Performance and Wellness Center, the Wiedergott Fitness Room, and the hockey shooting room; and the development of our Global Citizenship Program, which encompasses curricular and extracurricular learning opportunities that foster an appreciation for the rich diversity of cultures and traditions throughout the world, as well as the value of encountering and learning from differing perspectives.

We are now capitalizing on this momentum to complete the campaign’s critical second phase. At the cornerstone of this phase is our ambitious Residential Life Initiative, which will transform the living and learning experience at St. Mark’s and enable us to better support both day and boarding students through an environment even more conducive to developing vital intellectual, social, and emotional skills. A new residential building will unite our entire community on the Main Campus and reimagine our founding principle of “a school under one roof.” In addition, support for the Faculty Excellence Fund will enable us to attract and retain teachers who thrive in the boarding school environment and are committed to educating successive generations of St. Markers. We will also answer the call to increase our investment in Financial Aid, so that a St. Mark’s education will endure as a possibility for driven, talented students from all backgrounds.
Lives of Consequence—the most ambitious campaign in our School’s history—reflects a collective commitment to ensure that St. Mark’s endures for future generations. - John C. Warren ’74, Ed.D., Head of School
